The fire department provides fire and EMS protection for the Village of Paxton with a population of 516. They also serve the Paxton Rural Fire district with a  population of 632. The Paxton Rural Fire district cover 360 square miles in Keith and Perkins Counties. They are also members of Lake McConaughy Dive Rescue and Southwest Mutual Aid District and the Mid Plains Mutual Aid District.

The Paxton Fire Department meets the third Monday of every month at 7 pm at the fire station. If you are interested in joining the Volunteer Fire Department please contact Kyle Gartrell or attend their monthly meeting.

The Volunteer Fire Department currently consists of 22 members, of the 22 10 are EMT's.
